Karen M. LaFond is a member of the firm’s Transactional Group, concentrating her practice in commercial lending, commercial real estate, and corporate law. In her practices, Ms. LaFond has extensive experience representing regional and national lenders, as well as borrowers in all aspects of commercial finance transactions, including mortgage financing, asset- and equipment-based lending, and commercial and industrial loans. Additionally, Ms. LaFond represents clients in matters involving bond financing, U.S. Small Business Administration debenture financing, tax credit financing and private equity.
Ms. LaFond’s practice also encompasses commercial and residential real estate matters ranging from acquisitions, sales, conveyancing, leasing, and financing of real property. She represents a variety of corporate clients from small business owners to international businesses on matters including formation, governance, asset sales, stock sales, succession planning, and mergers and acquisitions.
Ms. LaFond earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire. She graduated from Suffolk University Law School and is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
Ms. LaFond was selected as a member of the 2023 class of Top Women of Law by MA Lawyers Weekly. In 2023 she was also named to the Power 50 in Real Estate by the Worcester Business Journal. In the past, Ms. LaFond has been recognized as a Rising Star® by Massachusetts Super Lawyers and named among the top Massachusetts Lawyers by both Boston Magazine and Law & Politics Magazine. Ms. LaFond also serves as a Trustee of Worcester State University.
