As a reminder to clients, the Fiscal Year 2022 H-1B ‘cap’ registration period will begin at noon tomorrow, March 9th. All H-1B candidates for the coming annual allotment must be registered online during the approximately two-week period ending on March 25th. The electronic registration process was successfully introduced by U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) last year, and for FY2022 the process will be administered in the same way:

  • Any employer registering as new H-1B petitioner must create a new online ‘MyUSCIS’ account. Employers who already have an account do not need to re-register.
  • Employers, or their authorized representatives, must submit an individual electronic registration for every new H-1B candidate during the March registration period.
  • Each individual registration will carry a USCIS fee of $10.
  • After the registration period has concluded, USCIS will conduct a random lottery selection process.
  • Selection Notices for all cases chosen as part of the annual quota will be issued by USCIS before March 31st.
  • For cases selected in the lottery, employers will be able to file full H-1B petitions beginning on April 1st.

For any clients who are still coordinating H-1B nominations for the coming lottery, we urge you to share your candidates’ details with our team in the coming days, to ensure a timely registration.
