USCIS Increase in Premium Processing Fee Effective Today, October 19th
on October 19, 2020
October 19, 2020
U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that it will increase the required filing fee for expedited ‘Premium Processing’ service beginning today, October 19, 2020. This fee increase was authorized by Congress in the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2021 and Other Extensions Act, which was signed into law on September 30, 2020.
The Premium Processing fee will increase from $1,440 to $2,500, for benefit requests that are already eligible expedited handling. The only exception will be petitions filed in the H-2B and R-1 nonimmigrant categories. Those cases will see a more modest increase, from $1,440 to $1,500.
Any Premium Processing request that is postmarked on or after today, October 19, 2020, must include the new filing fee amount. Any filings that are submitted with the prior fee amount will be rejected by USCIS, and returned.
