James M. Burgoyne

James M. Burgoyne is an Officer with the firm who concentrates his practice in the areas of environmental litigation, land use and development, permitting, zoning and subdivision control permitting and litigation, environmental law and litigation, and commercial and business litigation related to environmental and land use issues. He also serves as special municipal counsel to a number of municipalities, boards and districts on matters relating to real estate and land use. His clients include property owners, commercial and residential real estate developers and businesses.

 

A member of many professional organizations, including the Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Worcester County Bar Association, James M. Burgoyne has devoted his career to land use and environmental law. He co-chairs the Real Estate Bar Association's (REBA) Land Use and Zoning Committee and is active in local municipal affairs. For 12 years, he has served as Town Moderator for the Town of Lancaster and as a member of the Lancaster Board of Appeals.

Attorney Burgoyne conducts seminars in environmental law and municipal law, environmental issues in financing/acquisition and lender liability, business updates on the Massachusetts Contingency Plan, Title 5 and municipal tort litigation.

His support for access to legal services for all citizens of the Commonwealth has been recognized through his election as a Life Fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation. A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, where he received his B.A. in 1971, he earned his J.D. in 1974 from Suffolk University Law School.
